At St. Joseph of the Palisades, we welcome adults from every background who are seeking a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. No matter where you are on your faith journey, you are invited to discover the richness of the Catholic faith in a welcoming, supportive, and prayerful community.

To begin, simply complete our OCIA application form. Once your application is received, our Pastoral Associate, Marco Guerrero, will personally reach out to you to schedule an initial interview. This conversation is an opportunity to get to know you, hear your story, answer any questions you may have, and help you take the first steps on your journey toward becoming Catholic or completing your sacraments.

You do not need to have all the answers—you simply need an open heart and a desire to learn. We are here to walk with you every step of the way.

1. Do I have to be Catholic to join OCIA?

No. OCIA is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith. Whether you have never been baptized, belong to another Christian denomination, practice another religion, or simply have questions about Catholicism, you are welcome.

2. I was baptized Catholic but never received First Communion or Confirmation. Is OCIA for me?

Yes. Adults who were baptized Catholic but did not receive First Holy Communion or Confirmation are encouraged to participate in OCIA. The program will prepare you to complete your Sacraments of Initiation and deepen your understanding of the Catholic faith.

3. How long does the OCIA program last?

The OCIA process generally begins in the fall and continues through the Easter season, when many participants receive the Sacraments of Initiation. The exact schedule may vary depending on each person’s faith journey and previous sacramental preparation.
